The Mayor of Ross, backed by the Town Council, is mobilising support to counter a decision to cut the hours at the Ross Community Hospital Minor Injuries Unit (MIU).

Local MP Jesse Norman has already added his weight to the campaign. He said: "It is vital to make sure services in Ross are properly maintained for the local population." He told the Ross Gazette that the Trust should have spoken to local GPs first, as they work so closely with the Hospital. He said that there should have been proper notice and a proper explanation as to why the changes were made.

Councillors at the meeting of Ross Town Council on Monday, October 8th all backed the plan to call a public meeting and to invite Mr Peter Wilson, Medical Director of the Wye Valley NHS Trust who originally made the announcement regarding the reduction in hours.Read the full story in this week's Ross Gazette.
