MADAM, I am dismayed to see how workmen who are working on the wall along Wilton Road have driven their works van across the daffodils planted near the Portaloo and storage area.

Why do they have to do this?

These daffodils were planted to make the entrance to Ross look attractive, and I think it is disrespectful to trample them down.

I pass the area where the daffodils are flattened almost every day, and I find it very annoying to see them the way the workmen have left them.

John Price, Ross

Mr Price sent a copy of this letter to the company that did the work. A company representative replied to Mr Price as follows:

I was most upset to receive your e-mail regarding the daffodils, and totally agree with your sentiments. The employees concerned have already been reprimanded, and we can assure you that a supply of potted bulbs will be planted next week which will more than cover those that have been damaged and hopefully compensate for the distress that has been caused to local residents and visitors to Ross-on-Wye.
