Forest of Dean Cats Protection have quite a few adult cats to re-home. CP say that the advantages of adopting a cat, rather than a kitten, are many. In the first place, they are usually house-trained and have been vet checked. They are often quieter and just want a good home. They make great companions for older people and are generally reliable and friendly with young children.

When they are fully settled and happy in their new home, they become even more friendly. Often, their owners have died, gone into residential accommodation or become too ill to look after their much loved cats. This is when they come into CP care.

There is a middle aged duo, Mitzi and Ruthie who are sisters. These two tortoiseshells are quiet, undemanding and companiable cats, but they need to be re-homed together.

Then there is Patch, a handsome ginger and white male, who loves playing with his ping pong ball and is very friendly, but would probably not like to live with another cat.

Minty came with her kittens. She is affectionate and playful and her kittens have all been re-homed.

Chelsea is tortoiseshell and white. She was found as a stray in Ross-on-Wye, but she is now very used to her carer’s lap, when she isn’t playing.

Soxy, a dark tabby with some white, is a mature, undemanding cat who likes fuss. He would suit an older person.

Finally, there is a mother and daughter team, Madge and Tiggi, who would like to be re-homed separately and would appreciate a quieter life, as they have come from a large family with dogs. Both could do with a bit more exercise outside but they still love sitting on laps.
