THE Village of Linton Trust held their fourth annual Race Night at Linton Village Hall on Saturday, March 9th. For the third consecutive year, the event was sold out.
More than 40 people came along and enjoyed an evening of horse racing and fun. The featured race was ‘The John Wood Winner Takes It All Stakes’ in memory of a great supporter of the charity.
Mr Wood’s family, and friends from Yorkshire, donated items which were auctioned during a break in the racing. Maz Scudamore also donated a Morning at the Gallops on behalf of Michael Scudamore Racing. The mini-auction raised £300 which will be shared by VoLT and Ataxia UK.
The audience members were delighted when a live link to Yorkshire was opened and Mr Roy Tate addressed the room during the auction of their ‘Yorkshire Hamper’, which contained goods which are produced from all over Yorkshire.
A hot supper was served in the middle of the eight horse races which was enjoyed by all.
The event raised over £1,000 for the Village of Linton Trust funds, and the trustees are very grateful to all those who attended and helped out on the night.See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
