MADAM, Last year I began trying to create a wildflower meadow on what used to be a car-park/unused area, at the bottom of the Blake Memorial Garden. It is situated behind the Hope and Anchor Pub, near the river. I initially removed as much tarmac and rubble as I could manage, but there are large areas where the soil is less than one inch deep; not helped by last year's floods. Therefore I would be very grateful for any unwanted topsoil/used growbags/used compost which may otherwise end up in the recycling skip.
Please could you leave it, in bags, on the tarmac path next to the wall, opposite the steps? In addition, are there any gardeners who would like to lend a hand and join the Ross-in-bloom volunteers?
We meet in the pub car-park at 10.30 on Sunday mornings for an hour or so. Any help would be much appreciated.
Jenny Clarke, Ross
