An application for a house on land at Applewood House, Bridstow, Ross-on-Wye will be considered by the planning committee at Herefordshire Council on Wednesday, November 18th.
The site is located within Bridstow, which is within the AONB and is accessed from a lane serving five existing dwellings, which in turn connects to Bannutree Lane and the A49 Trunk Road.
Bridstow Parish Council is preparing a Neighbourhood Plan but this has not yet been completed and therefore carries no weight for the purpose of determining planning applications. However the Council objects to this application on the grounds that the access proposed is totally unsuitable. They said: “This application could only lead to increased congestion and difficulties on the narrow private lane, with the poor visibility onto Bannutree Lane and furthermore increased traffic flow on to the A49.”
Seven letters of objection have also been received from local residents which draw attention to highway safety and the impact on adjoining properties.
Planning officers have recommended the application for approval as Bridstow is designated in the Core Strategy as a settlement for proportionate growth and it is a sustainable location with access to services such as a primary school, bus stops, recreational opportunities and proximity to Ross-on-Wye.
