Daisy, the five-year-old, white miniature mare with toothace is hopefully facing a brighter future thanks to many generous donations. For the past two years, Daisy has been cared for at the Dick Whittington Farm Park, Longhope, after her owner lost his grazing land. She has two serious ulcers under her teeth and although strong painkillers are helping to relieve the discomfort, they are only a temporary measure and will have little or no effect very soon. This means she either has to undergo expensive dental treatment or be put down to save her from more pain. Unfortunately, the cost of a stay at a specialist equine unit, state of the art X-rays, the actual extractions and subsequent re-habilitation, is likely to run into thousands of pounds.
