The arson attack on a hedge in Eastfield Road, Ross-on-Wye which took place on October 20th is being linked to two other incidents in this area of Ross in October, but this is at least the sixth in the last two months or so.
Ross-on-Wye Neighbourhood Watch say that it has become obvious to the residents of the area, the Police and H&W Fire Brigade that these fires are being deliberately set, and at this time it is thought to be down to a small group of youths.
The members of the NW are concerned that the youngsters setting the fires do not realise the seriousness of the crime of arson, which can lead to severe criminal penalties.
West Mercia Police will be stepping up patrols in the and H&W Fire Brigade investigators will be looking closely at everything they can to find out who is responsible and bring them to account.
Parents and guardians are urged to be on the lookout for tell tale signs of the smell of smoke or accelerants (petrol etc) on children’s clothes. They are also asked to check any petrol stored for garden machinery and to ensure that access to any petrol is secure.
