Local author, and former Ross Gazette journalist, Marsha O’Mahony will be speaking at the Hay Festival in May. Marsha will be interviewed about her experiences talking to people who have spent their lives near the River Wye at 2.30pm on May 30th.
River Voices: Stories from the Wye is the culmination of a year-long oral history project by Marsha who, in the summer of 2017, travelled up and down the length of the Wye recording the stories of people who have lived, worked, and played in, on and beside the beautiful River Wye. She gathered a stunning collection of memories, photographs and artefacts, from ferrywomen, boatmen, boat-builders, swimmers, rowers, anglers, bailiffs, poachers, and more, that feature in the book.
The stories were collected into the book River Voices which has sold out of its first print run. Her visit to Hay follows her visit to Rossiter Books in Ross on March 26th.
