Melanie Robinson admits that she has always had a problem with confidence, but when a book she has contributed to became an award-wining best seller it was a real boost.
Melanie, who has lived in Ross-on-Wye since 2009, was rushed to hospital in December 2014, she was unconscious and diagnosed with diabetes. She told the Ross Gazette that she went through a very dark period but she discovered an inner strength which would not let her give up.
In the chapter she has contributed to Ready, Aim, Thrive, which has become a best seller in Australia, Canada, the US and the UK, she explains that it is important to live in the present, and make every moment matter.
Melanie told the Ross Gazette that she wants to inspire people to find their passion in life, and this could change throughout someone’s life. It does not have to be limited to one thing, but everyone can find something special to pursue to help them reach their full potential.
Melanie grew up in Zimbabwe and South Africa and has had to deal with a great deal of change throughout her life, but living in a place like Ross means she can take time to be close to nature.
She has always enjoyed reading and has contributed to The Gratitude Project: Best of Pets and My Favourite Summertime Memory. She is currently working on another book with Random House.
Melanie received her award for co-authoring Ready, Aim, Thrive, at a ceremony in Los Angeles. She took her mother with her, and as well as enjoying meeting the authors at the ceremony they took time to see the sights of Los Angeles.
Melanie told the Gazette:“I was determined to make the most of the trip, it was an amazing opportunity and we had a lovely time.”
Melanie who works as a catering assistant at Ross Court added: “If I can do this after illness, anyone can achieve their goal, just make the most of the moment.”
