Marilyn Teague, who has been a volunteer at her local Sue Ryder shop in Broad Street, Ross-on-Wye, for over three years, has been Highly Commended for the Overcoming Obstacles category at their recent awards.
Marilyn works three days a week as a shop volunteer in restocking and helping customers, but also works as a trainer for new volunteers for till training, customer service, Gift Aid and window dressing.
Pauline Fosbery, shop manager for the Ross-on-Wye shop, who works closely with Marilyn and nominated her for the award, said: “Marilyn is just one of life’s diamonds and we are so lucky to have her.”
The Overcoming Obstacles award was given to Marilyn in recognition of how she has dealt with the tough times that she has been through in recent years. She lost her son recently to cancer, aged only 46. but was determined to get back to the shop as soon as possible.
