INSPECTOR Paul Crumpton of the Safer Neighbourhood Team, covering Ross, the Golden Valley, Leominster, Bromyard, Ledbury, and Kington paid tribute to members of the public who provided the information which led to the arrest and conviction of prolific Ross burglar, Douglas Davies. Davies, 34, from Welsh Newton, appeared at Hereford Magistrates Court on Thursday, July 17th where he pleaded guilty to nine burglaries committed in Ross town centre over the past six weeks. The offences were all committed whilst Davies was on licence from Cardiff Prison and he was sentenced to six months. Items stolen in the burglaries included cash, iPads, laptops and computers, charity collecting tins and raffle money. Davies also caused damage at several properties amounting to approximately £1,400. Both uniformed and CID police officers worked together to make the arrest, after locating the suspect near to Ross-On-Wye town centre.
