MADAM, I was alarmed to see that a trial badger cull has been planned for the New Year (though the area not yet decided).Scientific data does not support that such action would help, indeed it may make matters worse.Time again control of a species in such a way has had detrimental effects.

TB is a serious issue, both for animal welfare and the economy. But the planned cull is only to make it look as though some type of action is being taken; therefore it is not the answer. Why do we find it necessary to destroy a species, one that has been around the British Isles for so long? I want to urge people to decide for themselves and if they disagree with the cull please sign the petition that can be found online '38 degrees website'. It is a matter of urgency.
