MADAM, We are a group of enthusiastic musicians who make up Monmouth Band and as our musical director has recently resigned due to his college commitments, we would like to appeal to anyone who feels they would be capable of taking on this job. The main qualification for anyone interested, apart from appropriate musical knowledge, is enthusiasm and the commitment to lead rehearsals at least one evening a week and to conduct the band for their concerts.

Our standard of playing is not very elevated and we don't enter contests and have no wish to do so, but we do enjoy our playing very much. We have several engagements throughout the year at fêtes and local events, as well as at the Monmouth Festival and the Monmouthshire Show. We meet on Monday and Thursday evenings for rehearsals at the Overmonnow Family Learning Centre in Monmouth

We would also welcome any musicians who would like to join us, particularly in the solo cornet section but in any other section too. We can provide good instruments for use while playing with the band.
