Ross’s Warm Rooms inititave have had a late confirmation from Ross Baptist Church that they will open and providing warm drinks 10am to 1pm on Fridays starting November 25.
This is the latest addition to a collective of Ross community groups which are coming together to help the town stave off the worst of the cost-of-living crisis this winter.
Plans are in place to have a mixture of venues offering hot drinks and soup each week.
Last month the Gazette reported that The Larruperz, St Mary’s Church Hall, Tudorville, and The Venue are the main locations which have stepped up to help people; this is backed up with the use of the library as a warm space, with hot drinks and soup being offered at Ross Community Garden.
The library is unable to serve hot drinks but organisers are hoping people will be able to walk round to the community garden where they will hopefully be able to be offering hot drinks—and possibly soup—up to three times a week.
The library has opened itself up as sanctuary during its normal opening hours while the other venues will each be laying on special “warm space” sessions once a week—to begin with.
What’s on offer will likely change from weekly-to-week or from month-to-month. Leaflets giving specific details of the warm spaces will be delivered by the Community Development Trust (CDT) volunteers.
