Readers of the Ross Gazette will remember the campaign for Churchyard Angels in the Ross Gazette last summer. Due to financial cutbacks imposed on them, Ross Town Council was no longer able to pay for the grass in the Open area of St Mary’s Churchyard to be cut and this had left the team at St Mary’s struggling to cope with the work.

The church organised some ’tidy up’ days over the summer and volunteers adopted areas of the churchyard and kept them cut throughout the growing season. The Rev’d Sarah Jones told the Ross Gazette ‘We had a fantastic response and a number of people willingly gave their time and the churchyard was well cared for’.

There will be a ’tidy up’ day this Saturday, May 28th, from 9am until noon. Sarah said, ‘If you can spare a few hours this Saturday you could make a big difference to the town at the start of the holiday season. If you have a strimmer or a wheelbarrow please bring them or just come along yourself between 9am and noon and you’ll be a great help’.

If you can help on the day or if you can adopt an area of the churchyard please contact the church office on 01989 562175.
