The Mayor of Ross-on-Wye, Councillor Harry Bramer, and his Mayoress, Marie Ward, put out a challenge on Friday, September 28th.

During October, locals and visitors are challenged to beat the Mayor’s time for rowing 2000 metres.

The Mayor completed his time of 12 minutes and 32 seconds on a rowing machine at Ross Health and Fitness Centre.

To take part in the Mayor’s challenge, contact Danie Ward at Ross Health and Fitness Centre, on 4 Homs Road. Alternatively, phone 01989 769239. You can use one of the centre’s machines to record your time.

Entries to the competition will be charged at £2.00 per entry, and all funds will go to the Mayor’s chosen charity, Papyrus, the charity that seeks to prevent young suicides.

The fastest time for men and the fastest time for women, at the end of October, will each receive a case of 6 bottles of Sparkling English ‘Champagne’.

The competition is open to all competitors, so please contact Ross Health and Fitness to support this charity and beat the Mayor!See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
