Dear Editor,

Whilst my husband and I were driving home having spent a few lovely days in Ross-on-Wye, thinking how polite and nice the people were, I was horrified to read about the cat that had been poisoned.

Our beautiful dog was also poisoned in March this year. The sad thing is, I saw him eat something in our garden, I even opened his mouth and smelt his lips as I couldn’t understand what he had eaten. This was on a Friday, then on the following Wednesday, he died in bed with his eyes open and his tongue hanging out. The vet confirmed it was poison.

I am nearly 60 years old and I was so naive, I didn’t realise that there are ‘scum bags’ out there that would kill your beloved pet and get away with this horrid act. So our hearts sank in pain when I read your reader page about the cat that had been poisoned.

I’m afraid there are wicked people all over the country, usually jealous of what you have. I too, like your reader, would like the person to knock on my door.

Or hearts go out to the cat owner as, unfortunately, you are not alone and that is a very sad thing.
