Goodrich Tennis Club held the Beryl Griffiths Memorial Tournament on September 5th. It is run as a mixed doubles event with each player keeping their own score as they change their partners.
Due to an imbalance of men and women, Jill Brown, Club Captain, who has won the Ladies' section on several occasions, played as an honorary 'man'.
As the games were played and scores recorded there was not much to separate the players, but Wendy Jenkins took the lead in the Ladies' section and continued to do so finishing on 21 points, with Sue Harley close behind on 17 points as runner-up. The Mens' section was a closer contest with James Harley totalling 19 points, and Jill Brown close on his heels with 18 points.
Following an excellent lunch in the Clubhouse, the presentation was made to the winners and runners up by Jack Griffiths, a long standing member of the club.
The club is grateful to Jen Hazel for organising the tournament and being chief scorer on the day.
