MADAM, re: speed cameras, I take Mr Black's point about highway-persons wanting his money. It is common knowledge that there are sedentary parts to our police forces which are over-sized and over-paid.

However, a better response would be to press our elected representatives into making sure that his contributions go towards reducing the community charge and are not diverted into the enhancement of some public fig-eater's permanent holiday.
