Bev Powell, who is 56 and lives in Lea, decided to brave the chop for charity recently, after she decided she would donate her hair to the Little Princess Trust and raise money for the charity in the process.

Bev told the Ross Gazette: “I decided to raise some money (£225 so far) and donate my hair to The Little Princess Trust in Hereford because everyone has been affected by cancer in some way. Everyone has had a relative or friend lose their life to cancer and everyone has a relative or friend going through cancer right now.

“I’ve lost a cousin and an uncle to this dreadful disease and many friends too.”

Although Bev said she loves her hair, she said she wanted her 14 inches to go to The Little Princess Trust to be used in wigs for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.

She added: “At the age of 56 it may never get that long again but it was worth getting the chop for this amazing local charity.”

Jessica Prosser Hair in Longhope cut Bev’s hair at 10am on Monday, June 4th, but you can still donate via https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/bevpowell1#.Wrficn4K22c.facebook

The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs free of charge to children and young people up to the age of 24 that have sadly lost their own hair due to cancer treatment and other illnesses. The Trust relies solely on the efforts of enthusiastic community fundraisers.
