KNITSEY and her guerrilla knitters have done it again - swamping the town with cheery Christmas designs in a festive ’yarn bomb’.

Assorted knitted snowmen, Santas, festive firs, penguins, stockings and Yuletide cozies have brightened up Ross-on-Wye town centre to bring a smile to all our faces.

The Market House, the shopping centre, the front of a pub, a post box, street signs, bollards and lamp posts have all been decked out in magical woollen creations.

The original plan was to yarn bomb the town on the night of Wednesday, December 1, but Knitsey posted: "Christmas Yarn bomb cancelled!!! It’s really rubbish weather out there."

The downpour didn’t halt them for long though, as she posted photos the following night, revealing: "Another successful yarn bomb followed by a lovey cosy mulled wine at The Kings Head. Happy Christmas all."

Mel Burns posted: "Another wonderful display. Well done everyone!!"

And Sarah Cottenham added: "Absolutely brilliant. Another Knitsey success."

Others called it "fabulous" and "brilliant".

Yarn bombing is thought to have begun in Texas some 16 years ago, when knitters saw it as a creative way to use their leftover and unfinished projects.

It is believed the start of the movement can be attributed to a lady called Magda Sayeg from Houston, who says she first got the idea in 2005 when she covered the door handle of her boutique with a custom-made cozy - and since then, it has spread worldwide, reaching all corners of the globe including "Ross Vegas".

Last June, Knitsey and her band decorated the town to mark International Yarn Bombing Day, and in November they created 2,100 poppies for Remembrance Day to adorn the Market House.
