Local driving instructors and their pupils are needed to take part in a massive charity event, the Big Learner Relay, to raise money for Children in Need.

The event sees learner drivers from all over the UK, work towards a combined effort to cover more than 2,500 miles, over two weeks, and carry the Big Learner Relay Top Box, which acts as a baton, from one driving lesson to another.

The lead car relays the top box, with Pudsey the Bear displayed on it. Lots of other driving instructors and pupils accompany the lead car, and drive in a convoy. Local driving instructor, Liz Powell has been selected to be in the lead car on the stretch of road between Ross-on-Wye and Hereford. She told the Ross Gazette she wants other driving instructors to accompany her, in the convoy. “The more support, the better,” Liz said.

Liz and her student will be doing the drive on November 10th, departing at 11am from Ross Labels. If other driving instructors and their students would like to join in the convoy, it is advisable to arrive for 10.30am, to see the other driving convoy arrive in Ross.
