ROSS TOWN played Kington Town at home in the Herefordshire Premier League on Saturday, and after a good performance came away with a well deserved 7 – 1 win. Captain Casey Morgan was three of Greg Burford and Shaun Aston.

Ross started at a frantic pace and hardly allowed the visitors a touch in the first five minutes. They had a couple of half chances that went begging, but, after 15 minutes, an in-swinging corner by AndrewDenzley was met at the back post by Aidan Cook, and he scored his first ever headed goal. This gave town the momentum to push on and play some of their best attacking football of the season. They seemed to be making chances every time they attacked. A moment of magic by Lee Walker left the Kington right-back wondering what day it was, Walker squared a ball for Halfpenny to

score his first of the match, with a tidy finish at the back post.

Walker continued to tear the Kington side apart and deservedly scored again from an excellent through ball by Cook, to make the half time score 3 – 0 to town. Ross dominated much of the 1st half with Jenkins in fine form at the back and Denzley, Cook and Walker the pick of the players of the first half. Town came out for the second half and played some very untidy football for the first 20 minutes, although Halfpenny scored his second goal of the game after some excellent play by Jenkins. Kington started to knock the ball around well and showed the sort of football they could play. They pulled a goal back when a shot from the edge of the box could not be held by Morris in goal. This goal seemed to give Town the kick up the behind they needed, they started to play some good football again. Paul Burnham scored from an excellent free kick from 25 yards for the 2nd time in two weeks. Then, with five minutes to go, Halfpenny scored, after being put through 1-on-1, completing his much deserved hat-trick, and gaining his 20th goal of the season. With provider to sub, Eli Wooding, who blasted the ball home from ten yards. Overall, this was a good performance by Town, in particular there were excellent performances from Jenkins, Cook, Halfpenny and Walker, to record back to back victories in this tough league. This Saturday Town have a hard test, away against top of the table Wellington.
