Dear Editor,
I am a local resident who uses Morrisons carpark on a regular basis.
Sunday (October 22nd) at between 10:15 and 10:20, whilst my car was parked at Morrisons, someone drove into the rear of my car, caused substantial damage, and drove off without any form of contact or apology. The damage to my car was such that it is no longer road worthy. I have lost my no claims bonus, and the repairs will take at least a week, costing me and my insurance company a considerable amount of money. The repair including VAT just short of £900!
I asked Morrisons twice if they had any CCTV coverage and was told that they did not and they only record number plates of cars entering and leaving the carpark.
My contact with you is purely to let folk know that this type of incident is an increasing occurrence according to both my insurers and the AA, and that the installation of a dash cam could save them a lot of aggravation and cash.
In the meantime, if anyone has recently noticed the new addition of ŠKODA metallic black paint and associated damage on a vehicle, I would be more than pleased if they could encourage the owner to do the decent thing.
