Madam, Herefordshire Amey has been doing an excellent job looking after the Blake Gardens in Wye Street. Due to the cuts across the county the Garden Jubilee Project group, together with Ross-in-Bloom decided, with Amey's permission, to help out by working on these gardens.

The gardens have been entered in Britain in Bloom in their own right in the 'It's Your Neighbourhood' category and a good result in July will add to the prestige of the town.

They are cleaned daily by Herefordshire Amey to a very high standard, with local people helping out wherever possible. Members are also helping Herefordshire Amey to enhance them as part of a scheme to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in 2012. As this is a two year project we hope to eventually be able to provide extra seating and other street furniture to enhance the enjoyment of visitors as it is a main walk way into the town centre.

Herefordshire Amey and members of Ross-in-Bloom are coordinating the work with valued assistance from local people including: Ross Garden Store and their Landscape Gardening Partners, Cubberley Estates; Herefordshire Community Foundation, Residents of Wye Street, Members of Ross Town Council, Members of Herefordshire Council, the AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), Local historians and of course individual Volunteers of all ages and abilities from the town of Ross-on-Wye without whom a Community Project would not be possible

There are regular working parties for the gardens which will be advertised in the local press and on boards in the gardens themselves. However if you feel you would like to do your bit please do contact the co-ordinators who will be more than happy to let you know what needs to be done outside of these events.

If you would like to hold a fund raising event to help towards costs etc of new street furniture etc please also let us know what your plans are and we will help with advertising etc in any way we can.
