A bomb detection company based in Ross-on-Wye has named its latest vehicle after Connor Sparrowhawk, a teenager who had epilepsy and drowned in a bath after suffering a seizure in Oxford in 2013.

After an online campaign to get the Eddie Stobart haulage firm to name a truck after Connor was rejected by the firm in February, SafeLane Global, based at Phocle Green, Ross-on-Wye, stepped up to offer to name their new bomb detection rig after Connor.

SafeLane Global works with intergovernmental and humanitarian organisations worldwide, to detect, identify and mitigate potential threats on land and in water.

Rhiannon Davies, Marketing Manager for SafeLane Global told the Ross Gazette that Connor would have loved to have seen his name on a truck travelling around the country looking for bombs.

There will be a dedication service later this week to unveil the truck with its new name, Connor Sparrowhawk Laughing Boy.See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
