Oxfam will auction a unique collection of rare and valuable books on June 29th including Alfred Dartiguenave's Costumes des Pyrenees. This was generously donated to the Oxfam shop in Broad Street, Ross.

The book has been valued with a guide price of £300-500, and Oxfam hopes that the auction, held at Bonhams in Oxfordshire, will raise more than £25,000 to support its life-changing work around the world.

The book auction comprises 41 lots – the most valuable of which are the first four volumes of Wisden's Cricketers Almanac which have a guide price of between £8,000 and £15,000.

Carol Jones shop manager said: "We are so grateful to the donor of Alfred Dartiguenave's Costumes des Pyrenees and to all the other people who generously donate their books to the shop. Whether it is a rare and valuable volume or a holiday read, the books that we receive make a real contribution to Oxfam's work helping people living in poverty around the world."
