A boy from the Pontshill area has been airlifted to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol following an incident on Monday.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to a property in Pontshill in Ross-on-Wye shortly before 5.50pm on Monday, May 24th.

The Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham was also called to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "On arrival at the scene, crews found a boy who had suffered burns from a bonfire. It is reported that petrol had been used to ignite the fire resulting in it flashing back.

"The boy, believed to be 11 years of age, was treated at the scene for burns to his face, hands and right arm before being airlifted to Frenchay Hospital for further assessment and treatment."
