Drunken groups of youths shouting, fighting, urinating in doorways; a councillor hit by an egg; assaults and vandalism after dark; pub licences under review. Ross seems to be getting a bad reputation for weekend disorder, and some residents feel things are getting worse.
The problems dominated the monthly meeting of Ross Town Council on Monday night, as it emerged that at least two assaults and one case of vandalism had occurred in the centre of the town over the weekend.
For one local resident, whose 62-year-old neighbour was punched in the face and back of the head in the small hours of Sunday morning, it was time to speak out. Retired social services officer Lynette Hodgkinson-Munoz was determined to let councillors know what has been happening in Ross recently, and described the events of last weekend.
