Kate Verney, a local Body Harmony, Reiki and massage therapist is training at Cardiff University to be a physiotherapist. This summer she went to Belarus as a volunteer with 'BACCUP', a student run charity that each year, during the summer period, sends groups of volunteers from Cardiff University to work in orphanages around Belarus.

The students work with impoverished disabled children in an orphanage outside Minsk, the children cared for have a wide range of disabilities; both mental and physical, and rely on the support of the charity.

Baccup has managed to make a real difference to how the children are treated, fed and clothed and they now receive the care and the vital stimulation they need.
