Major Tim Peake, the British astronaut currently in the International Space Station, has tweeted about the Mappa Mundi – a mediaeval map of the world dating from around 1300.

"We are absolutely thrilled about our special link with Major Tim," said Canon Chris Pullin, Chancellor of Hereford Cathedral, the home of the Mappa Mundi. "It was great to have met him at NASA in Houston in 2014 and even more wonderful to remain in touch with him in space.
