Madam, The silence from the Highways Agency is deafening. I have still not heard a rational explanation for why they have snubbed the Parish of Bridstow by telling us that they were going to reduce the speed limit and introduce safety measures and then reneging on the promise. Is the Highways usual way of conducting business to ignore problems in the hope that they will go away, rather than the mature approach to come clean and say that they have made a huge mistake and to put it right. Call me old fashioned but they have a moral obligation to this community and they must be held to account for their incompetence in Bridstow.
I also see from last week's Ross Gazette that we are not the only local community to be suffering at the hands of the Highways Agency's failure to do a job properly and to honour its commitments. The failure to install the safety railings properly in one of the most dangerous locations where young children have to cross the A49 daily to get to school is unbelievable. Who is holding the Highways Agency to account and will they ever finish a job properly?
