THE new Aldi store on Brookend Street has had a mixed effect on smaller businesses.

The supermarket finally opened its doors on October 30th and was expected to boost both the businesses and footfall of Brookend Street and the surrounding areas.

Sarka Walker, from Little Chic, opposite the new store, told the Ross Gazette: "I think it's made a big difference. There's definitely been more people coming in, even though it's still a bit too early for Christmas.

"The new store is definitely a good thing. It looks good and there's more people coming to the area.
