In July 1995 this group of 14-year-old pupils from John Kyrle High School took part in an engineering challenge day at Holme Lacy College.

As well as designing their own equipment as solutions to various tasks they also attended workshops on telecommunications, computer design and pneumatics.

The day was organised by local engineers who were hoping to encourage more pupils, especially girls, to explore engineering as a career.
