FURTHER UPDATE - A spokesperson for West Mercia Police has confirmed that the bull which escaped from Ross Cattle Market this morning has been shot.The bull had made its way onto the Wye Valley Walk and there was concern for public safety.

The spokesman told the Ross Gazette that the bull was shot by a qualified civilian marksman and police officers were present.

UPDATE - A spokesperson for West Mercia Police told the Ross Gazette that an escaped bull was last seen in the Phocle Green area of Ross-on-Wye, and people are being asked to avoid the fields around Phocle Green.

A bull escaped from RG and RB Williams Cattle Market in Ross-on-Wye this morning at about 9.13am, and was seen in fields heading towards the Upton Bishop area.

The Ledbury Safer Neighbourhood Policing team tweeted this morning, Monday, Spetember 11th at about 9.30 that “A bull has escaped from #RossOnWye cattle market and is currently running loose in the #UptonBishop area. Officers on scene #BeAware #Safety”
