The Daimler and Lanchester Owners Club (DLOC) held its annual International Rally beside the river in Ross on Sunday.
In the gorgeous sunshine, crowds thronged to see this static gathering of historic and classic motor cars, dating from before the first World War right up to the present. The Daimlers and Lanchesters on display were examples of the best of the British motor industry's heritage. People came from Australia, USA, Canada, Italy, Germany and Holland. Hotels and guest houses in the town were full.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the launch of the Daimler SP250, known as the 'Dart', there were over 120 of these sports cars on show at the Rally.
The trophies and prizes for the competitions were presented by the Mayor of Ross, Councillor John Edwards.
The Rally organiser, Wilf Stephens who lives at Goodrich said he was delighted. He said: "There was a positive and happy atmosphere and there were about 240 cars on show. 500 new visitors came to Ross, and there were about 1,000 local people at the Rally. I hope this has a long-term effect on the town. Everyone who visited said what a wonderful venue and event it was."
