MADAM, It seemed as if we now had a twinning arrangement with Clochmerle. I chanced upon our pissoir in Cantilupe Road whilst waiting for the 10.40 bus to Monmouth last Saturday morning – it had apparently been recently converted from a former bus shelter. The distinct aroma associated with such 'conveniences' permeated the air. The tasteful decoration included assorted alcoholic beverage cans and bottles (surprisingly, no Pinot Noir) and the takeaway meal some person's sensible stomach had thought better of accepting.

Casting a general eye around the immediate area I attempted to view it through the eyes of a first-time coach tripper to Ross. I concluded I would not have been impressed at the decrepit state of the bus and coach station.

Please, town council, do something to tidy things up and create a good first impression for our town.
