A Ross-on-Wye hotel has a pair of winners behind the bar after Sally and Matthew Perkins won General Managers of the Year at an awards evening recently.

Sally and Matthew, who have been at the Royal Hotel in Ross-on-Wye for four years, won the award for going the extra mile in the business, significantly improving performance and clearly demonstrating the company’s internal values, the Winning Ways.

Sally and Matthew Perkins said: “We are really proud to be awarded general managers of the year, it’s a huge achievement and we’re so grateful to be recognised. We need to thank the team who have been incredible in helping make our pub the best in its community, we couldn’t have done it without them.”

The award is one of ten Greene King Winning Ways awards which were handed out at a prestigious ceremony held in Towcester by the chief operating officer at Greene King, Richard Lewis.

Richard said: “It was an absolute honour to host our first ever Winning Ways Awards evening. We welcomed over 200 colleagues from across the country to recognise and celebrate the amazing work that goes on in and around our pubs.

“It was a fantastic evening to thank those who have gone above and beyond in the business to deliver for our customers, team members and communities. Sally and Matthew have done a fantastic job, so it was great to be able to award them for their outstanding achievements.”

As part of the evening Greene King held a raffle for their charity partner, Macmillan raising £2,000 during the evening. Since 2012, Greene King team members and guests have raised a staggering £4million for Macmillan by taking part in a wide range of fundraising challenges.
