Waste, such as food and plastic waste is very topical at the moment and experts are running a ‘Master Class’ to help businesses in Herefordshire look at the opportunities associated with waste, and how they can get value from the material.

The team from the European Bioenergy Research Institute (EBRI), part of Aston University, will be on hand from March 7th-8th at the Hereford Business Solutions Centre, to guide companies through the new market opportunities available.

Agricultural businesses, engineering, waste management, construction, financial services and food manufacturing industries amongst others, can all benefit from attending the two day Master Class.

“There are all sorts of options,” says Tim Miller EBRI’s Project Lead, “Redundant material such as food waste, cardboard boxes, plastic waste, textile residues, sawdust, waste oils, manure, hay straw, sugar beet residue, spent grain waste from breweries are only a few examples of waste that could potentially open up fresh possibilities”.

EBRI will explain how to turn waste material into energy, develop new products and services from waste and explore ways to achieve energy efficiency. The agenda will include presentations, interactive business games, networking, refreshments and lunch.

Attendance is open to local Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and there is no charge to eligible companies.

The start time on both days will be 9:30am and the finish time 4:30pm. Small and medium sized companies (i.e. with less than 250 employees) located within the West Midlands, are eligible to attend.
