A Ross-on-Wye resident has praised a local bank branch after staff managed to recover stolen funds.

Christopher Burns fell victim to hacking earlier this month and lost money as criminals managed to gain access to his bank accounts.

Santander’s fraud department managed to recover the stolen funds, and the staff at Ross branch were helpful in arranging access to cash and keeping Mr Burns informed about what was going on.

“Top marks for customer service and a big thank you,” he said. “The banks get a very bad press and, in Ross, much criticism for them closing but I would like to congratulate the staff of Santander in Ross for the brilliant service I have received over the years, especially in the last few days.”

Mr Burns took to social media to share his experience. A number of people agreed that the staff there were consistently helpful and pleasant to do business with.

One commenter said: “This is why having a high street bank is so important. So often when people are subject to fraud and they only have an online or phone bank they have trouble getting hold of someone.”

Gratitude was widely expressed by residents, another added: “You are right Chris, brilliant bank and the staff especially. Robert who always serves me is great, nothing is ever too much of a problem. Even though they now shut at 3pm they still continue to work. Let’s hope it stays that way.”
