Singing teacher, Fran Clark, was inspired to start a choir in Ross-on-Wye because of all the benefits singing can bring. Experience has taught her that singing is a fantastic stress buster, a proven way to help with respiratory problems and a confidence booster. ‘Singing really helps to develop self esteem,’ says Fran.

So why sing with a choir when singing in the shower has always made you feel good? Studies have shown that group singing gives a feeling of togetherness and belonging. Learning to listen to others and singing harmonies not only enhances brain function but strengthens the body and improves musicality.

Since moving from London to Ross, and setting up Cadence Choir, Fran is happy to have met a group of fun and friendly people and now feels part of a warm community.

Cadence Choir is for all adults of all abilities who enjoy songs from the soul, pop, Motown, show tune and jazz genres. You don’t have to read music and no audition is required. With an emphasis on fun, anyone who loves to sing can join this informal choir.

Fran said: “We’ve come to the end of our first term together but we’d love to welcome new members in the New Year! No matter what your experience, there’s nothing like singing as part of a group and coming away with a buzz of excitement and achievement.”

From January 6th, 2020 Cadence Choir will be meeting at Christ Church, Edde Cross Street, HR9 7BZ and anyone interested in joining can head along for a free taster session.
