The Royal British Legion Ross Branch, in conjunction with The Ross Gazette, have today, Wednesday, September 9th, launched a campaign to raise £1300 to buy a commemorative Falklands bench for Ross-on-Wye.

The bench will be installed in the town centre to remember those local soldiers who died in the Falklands. The commemorative bench will include a memorial plaque dedicated to all those who served in the Falklands including Private Timothy Jenkins, Welsh Guardsman Gareth Griffiths and Welsh Guardsman Colin Parsons.

We are calling for donations to help to purchase this beautiful bench.

If you would like to make a donation to the appeal you can do so by cheque (made payable to the Royal British Legion Ross-on-Wye Branch) or cash at the Ross Gazette office, 54a Broad Street, Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, HR9 7DY.

Should the appeal raise more than the required £1300 the remaining funds will be put towards a memorial plaque in the Prospect for the local soldiers who served in the Falklands.
