MAdam, Until I read last week's Ross Gazette I did not know that Peter, now Lord Mandelson, 'The King of Spin', was working behind the scenes for Herefordshire Council.

On the Gazette letter's page, Kate Murray, Assistant Cultural Services Manager, went into considerable detail regarding the future benefits when the library and info services are both based in the same building. In her own words, 'working in partnership with other department is vital, etc etc, to improve customer service.'

Perhaps Ms Murray could now tell us which 'other departments' she liaised with in view of the report on the front page of your paper that the TIC is to move to Ross Labels, or is it that the left hand of the council does not know what the right hand is doing.

Regarding the reported possible TIC move one Councillor said that he had heard the suggestion of the move but had dismissed it, and that as far as he was concerned no decision had yet been made.

It is rather ironic that the same councillor told me the same story a few weeks ago regarding the tree in the Prospect. Four days later it was felled.

Perhaps it is best not to belive anything one is told either by Herefordshire Council or its representatvies. I rest my case, a Ross resident for 44 years.

R T Morgan, Ross
