A Ross motorist had a late start to work on Monday morning as he ensured that other motorists did not collide with a car which had been left in the middle of a lane in Weston under Penyard.

The gentleman saw the red Corsa and stopped to give assistance. He realised that it had been abandoned and alerted West Mercia Police. However, he told the Ross Gazette that he was worried about driving off and leaving the car as it was difficult for oncoming motorists to spot.

He said he stayed for well over an hour so that he could direct oncoming traffic and avoid collisions.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police confirmed: “Police were called at about 7.40am on February 25th to a red Vauxhall Corsa that had been left abandoned on the lane coming out of Weston under Penyard in the direction of the Lea. Since it was creating a hazard, police arranged for the vehicle to be removed from the road and are in contact with the owner.”
