ROSS-on-Wye based emergency services were honoured by a local care home with a basket full of goodies for their selfless service keeping the community safe.
Residents and staff at Ross Court care home set about thanking all the staff stationed at the town’s local fire and police station as part of Emergency Services Day,
The day gives people a chance to show their appreciation for the two million people serving communities in the emergency services either as employees or volunteers.
The annual event was first launched in 2017 with the proposal having originally been presented to the Government a year earlier.
And this week the Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, said: “Each and every day, hardworking emergency workers are on the frontline, putting themselves in danger to protect us.
“They are the backbone of our communities, and I speak for the whole country when I say thank you for your dedication and for keeping us safe.”
Agda-Claudia Vasilateanu, general manager at the care home, said: “Our local police officers and firefighters put their lives on the line every day to save our lives, loved ones and homes, so we wanted to take the opportunity to let them know just how much we appreciate all that they do for us. We think they are truly wonderful human beings.”
One of the care home residents, said: “I can’t imagine how terrifying it must be to go into a burning building to rescue someone or to turn up at the scene of a major incident not knowing what you are going to have to deal with, I think our fire and ambulance crews and our police officers are absolutely amazing and I can’t thank them enough for their service. They are all heroes in my eyes.”
