The residents at Ross Court Care Home have been working on a collage of the Horseshoe Bend for a Brighterkind Create Competition.

Their piece could be in the running to win a prize, and the care home staff told the Ross Gazette that they would love to offer it to be displayed in the town somewhere, especially as it celebrates the home of the birthplace of tourism, ready for the 250 year celebration next year.

Clare Lockley, Magic Moments Co-ordinator, said: “It has been made out of old travel brochures and it would be lovely for both residents of Ross or visitors to the town.”

The collage took around 60 hours to complete, from finding the right pages of the travel brochures to use, to drawing around the templates and cutting out the pieces for the river and the landscape.

Mel Swan-Liddell runs the Art Club for the residents on a weekly basis and there they painted pictures of ducks, salmon and kingfishers.

The company competition is being judged on Thursday, April 11th, with the top prize being £500, a 2nd prize of £250 and a 3rd prize of £125 for the winning care home to spend on future activities.

Aside from hoping to win in the competition, the staff and residents at Ross Court Care Home would love a local business to home their artwork as a symbol of the surrounding beauty of Ross-on-Wye and the River Wye.
