MADAM, THE Patient Participation Group affiliated to Alton Street Surgery is to hold its third educational event on September 5th at the Ryfield Centre from 10am to 12:30. Our previous events have covered healthy eating and more recently, skin advice. The aim of the PPG is to hopefully provide patients with information and advice in an informal atmosphere.

On this occasion we are focusing on the needs of carers, a demanding and often unrewarding role. We have invited several speakers including a representative from Age Concern, Department for Mental Health In Older People (DMHOP) and from the Esme Fairburn Trust, which focuses directly on providing practical support for carer's and any issues that they might have.

Information from the British Red Cross and the WRVS will also be available.

If you are a patient or carer and registered at Alton Street you are very welcome to attend. Our previous events have been very well received and consequently by using the Ryfield Centre we will hopefully fulfil the need for a larger venue.

If you require further information or would like to attend please contact the surgery at Alton Street so we can monitor numbers for the forth coming meeting.
