Carter Carmichael, who is four years old and in the Wrens class at Goodrich Primary School has been set the task of making ‘£1’ grow, to raise funds for the PTFA at his school. After seeing the amount of litter around Ross-on-Wye he decided to spend his Easter holiday litter picking around the Ross riverside.
Carter said: “I have been given a £1 coin and I have to try to make it grow over the Easter holidays. All money we raise goes back into the school’s PTFA to be spent on benefiting me, and the other children in the school.
“I live in Ross and love the outdoors and when I’m out walking and playing I always find lots of rubbish so have decided to spend my £1 on black bags and over the Easter period I will be collecting rubbish from around the river and surrounding areas.
“My mum said if I do this she will give me more than a £1 to take back to school but if anyone else would like to donate I would be very grateful. Or if you see me out and about working hard and would like to give me a small donation I would be very pleased.”
Carter’s mum asked him what is the biggest number he knows, which is 16, and that is how much Carter would like to raise.
However, after doing several litter picks over the last two weeks – he has raised £75. You can donate to Carter via gofundme.com/carter039s-grow-a-1-clean-up
