A cat cafe, will soon be opening its doors on Broad Street in Ross-on-Wye; thirty affectionate, furry friends will be at the ready to cuddle up to visitors to the new coffee shop in the town centre.
Felina Pawsey, the owner of the cat cafe, spoke to the Ross Gazette about the cafe, which she hopes will be a unique addition to Ross. “I’ve been a visitor to Ross for many years,” she explained. “I’ve always been so impressed by how animal friendly the town is. I know last year there was a world record attempt for the most dogs in one place wearing a bandana. That looked like it was great fun.”
Felina went on to explain that she moved to Ross about nine months ago, and since moving to the town, she was convinced even further of the animal-loving nature of many local residents, especially after the Dogs Trust charity shop opened its doors this year. “It’s a lovely shop. People really seem to love their animals here, more so than I’ve noticed anywhere else, so I thought Ross would be the perfect place to open my cafe.
“It’s been my dream to establish the cafe for about ten years now, and what better place to do it in the town that is the birthplace of British tourism?”
The cafe will be able to accommodate 15 guests at a time; this limit is in place to ensure that the cats do not get over-stimulated or stressed. Sleeping cats must be left to snooze in peace. Once the cafe is open, visitors will be able to book a one-hour slot; reservations are strongly advised to avoid disappointment.
Visitors to the cafe will pay an entry fee of £8 per hour; this will entitle them to unlimited hot drinks, and a piece of home make cake or a sandwich.
Building work will begin on Friday, April 1st, and the cafe will open on May 4th. Felina told the Ross Gazette that this date has a special significance to her: “Many know that May 4th is Star Wars day. The only thing I love as much as my cats are the Star Wars films. I’ll be dressing the cats up as Star Wars characters as a dual celebration. I want to do something special to make a lasting impression, and I think this will be something quite quirky and special.”The Ross Gazette would like to wish our readers a happy April Fool's day.
